MECHANICSBURG: There are few drivers, if any, in central Pennsylvania who drive or push a car harder than Brian Montieth.
Especially when it comes to rim-riding around the cushion. And Montieth needed every ounce of that moxie Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway.
Montieth trailed Lance Dewease, who has been just short of unbeatable in the region this season, in the closing stages of the Sprint Car feature. Considering Dewease's dominance, the race appeared to be over.
Dewease has beaten the World of Outlaws, won Speed Week shows and the Living Legends Dream Race at Port Royal two weeks ago. But he couldn't beat Montieth ... not on this night.
Montieth made up ground and pulled off a last lap stunner to capture the 30-lap Jack Gunn Memorial, which also featured the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. The win was worth $5,250.
"That team has been so dominant at the end of these things," said Montieth after his second straight win at the speedway and 23rd overall.
