Inside Line Promotions - WINDOM, Minn. (Nov. 8, 2016) - Dale Blaney has perspective following a season filled with the highest of highs and lowest of lows.
Blaney won eight races, including his first of the year, and the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team was in a tight battle for Blaney's seventh Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title until the final lap of the season finale.
"We started our year really good," he said. "We won our first race of the year in January at Cocopah Speedway (during the Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown). I've had a superstition that if you win the first race of the year the rest of the year doesn't go that well, but we had a really good year. We were really fast all year. We were consistent all year except for a month between the middle of June to the middle of July."
YORK, PA (November 7, 2016) - Third generation racer Chase Dietz concluded his sophomore season behind the wheel of a 410ci sprint car on Saturday afternoon, November 5, during the Sprint Showdown at Susquehanna Speedway near York Haven, Pennsylvania. Dietz finished 11th during his final appearance of the 2016 season, ultimately fighting for a top-ten position after racing through the consolation B-main and starting 22nd on the main event grid.
Unfortunately for Dietz, involvement in an on-track incident with just ten circuits remaining halted any further progress for the Troy Godfrey-owned/Godfrey Racing Engines/No. 5 entry. The team was able to recover quickly and still finish 11th.
GETTYSBURG, PA (November 7, 2016) - Despite a disappointing end to his 2016 campaign, disqualified at Susquehanna Speedway on Saturday, November 5, after a controversial late call to the staging area by speedway officials, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich will enter his “off-season” with a full load of momentum, already beginning preparations for his upcoming campaign.
Dietrich’s momentum boost was made possible by nine separate trips to victory lane in 2016, also earning a first-ever Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek championship.
“We have a lot to be proud of this season. We didn’t match our win total from 2015, but we accomplished more and I’m more excited about that,” Dietrich explained. “Obviously, we are disappointed that our season ended like it did. I didn’t see eye-to-eye with the call that I was late to the staging lane, and I definitely was against starting at the tail of the field as a penalty for being late, so we were disqualified.
MYERSTOWN, PA (November 7, 2016) - Brent Marks ended his 2016 season inside the top-five; finishing fourth during the $5,000-to-win Sprint Showdown at Susquehanna Speedway on Saturday, November 5. The “Myerstown Missile” flirted with a podium finish during the entire main event, sliding back to fourth with a few circuits remaining after missing a last chance effort to take control of the top spot.
“We had a really good run yesterday. I am happy with our performance,” Brent Marks explained. “I raced inside the top-five most of the race and found myself just behind the leaders with less than five laps left. We had a late restart with four to go, so I figured if I was going to win this thing, I would have to go for it now. Unfortunately, it didn’t stick and we ended up drifting back to fourth. Regardless, we had a strong car all day. Daytime conditions can make things difficult. We’re happy.”
Sprint Car driver Lucas Wolfe has spent the last couple of seasons trying to piece together a full-time schedule with two different teams.
Different philosophies. Different equipment. Different crew members. Not exactly ideal for success.
Yet, Wolfe somehow made it work driving the legendary Zemco Speed Equipment machine. He supplemented his schedule by running his familiar orange Jim and Laura Allebach No. 5W.
But Wolfe won't be bouncing back and forth in 2017. He parted ways with John and Pee Wee Zemaitis Monday and took over the reins of the Michael Barshinger entry, which was piloted by Cory Haas the last 10 seasons.
