Legends of Central Pennsylvania Sprint Car Racing Get Behind the Wheel in Fred Rahmer Promotions Event at Lincoln Speedway
Six Of Today’s Sprint Car Stars compete in a $10,000 Winner-Takes-All Shootout
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (July 13, 2015) – As a tribute to this region’s colorful history the event, driving greats from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s will strap into 410 Sprint Cars one more time when Fred Rahmer Promotions and Apple Chevrolet of York, PA present the “Legends of Central Pennsylvania” at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA. The event, which takes place on Wednesday, August 26 (raindate: August 27), will include the legends, an invitation only $10,000 winner-takes-all shoot out with a very unique format and the 358 sprint cars.
“We’ve been able to put together a great list of retired drivers, they’re legends in this sport and more importantly they are my heroes,” said event organizer Fred Rahmer. “I’ve raced with them and I’ve watched them do amazing things in race cars. It’s a privilege to see them behind the wheel again.”
With more than 1500 combined Pennsylvania feature event wins the current list of committed drivers includes: Doug Wolfgang, Steve Stambaugh, Lynn Paxton, Keith Kauffman, Cris Eash, Kenny Adams, Steve Smith Sr., Billy Pauch, Todd Shaffer, Steve Siegel and a host of others.
The evening of nostalgia will feature interviews and anecdotes with yesterday’s star drivers, led by Motor Racing Network radio personality Steve Post.
This is no exhibition race – the Legends will compete in a full program of events including heat races and a 20 lap feature in modern 410 Sprint Cars — complete with graphics similar to the machines they once made famous.
The action doesn’t stop there – six of the nation’s top sprint car stars will be invited to participate in a $10,000 winner-takes-all Shootout. The unique format will consist of six 5-lap events, each driver will be given the opportunity to start in each of the starting positions with points offered in each event. The accumulation of points will decide the Shootout champion.
Fans will be encouraged to participate by writing-in their nominations of Shootout participants through a special section on FredRahmerPromotions.com. Write-in voting will start on Sunday, July 26.
Rounding out the event will be a complete show for the popular 358 Sprint Cars.
The action takes place on Wednesday, August 26 (raindate: August 27). General Admission Adult tickets are $20, Students 12-17 are $15, Children 11 years old and under are FREE!

A Special Early Autograph Session for Advance Ticket Holders Will Take Place
Abbottstown, Pa. (August 4, 2015) – Tickets are currently on sale for one of the most anticipated events of the racing season—Fred Rahmer Promotion’s Legends of Central Pennsylvania Sprint Car Racing—presented by Apple Chevrolet of York, Pa. on Wednesday, August 26 (Raindate: August 27) at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa. Tickets can be purchased at the Lincoln Speedway office or by calling 717-624-2755.
Fans that purchase advance general admission tickets will be able to enter the speedway one hour earlier than those purchasing tickets the day of the event. Fans can use this time to secure their seats and participate in a special autograph session with the Legend drivers.
For one night only, driving greats from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s will compete in 410 Sprint Cars with heat races and a special 20 lap feature event. Participating legends include: Doug Wolfgang, Steve Smith Sr., Steve Stambaugh, Lynn Paxton, Keith Kauffman, Cris Eash, Kenny Adams, Billy Pauch, Todd Shaffer, Steve Siegel, Bobby Weaver, and Jeff Shepard.
These tenacious veterans have amassed over 1500 victories at Central Pennsylvania’s famed dirt ovals and are anxious to strap back into these 800 horsepower race cars – which will be painted up with vintage graphics in the style of the cars they made famous.
Also on the card is a $10,000 winner-takes-all Shootout – featuring six of the nation’s top current 410 Sprint Car stars competing in a series of six 5-lap events with a point system determining the winner.
The six drivers will be chosen based on a fan vote available on FredRahmerPromotions.com. Over 400 unique votes were cast in the first 24 hours of voting.
Rounding out the program is a full show for the 358 Sprint Cars.

The old saying goes “good things come to those who wait”, and that is exactly how Kevin Nouse is feeling as he has been chosen to be the driver of the R&R Motorsports #4R 358 Sprint Car for the 2013 racing season. “I began talking to the R&R team in December about possibly driving their car, and I’m very happy that the wait is finally over” said Nouse. “They had a bunch of good drivers that called them about the ride and I’m sure the final decision wasn’t an easy one for them to make. With rides so hard to come by, I feel very fortunate that they chose me as their driver”.
For Nouse, it’s a return to a familiar car and situation. He drove for the R&R team in 2006 and 2008 and won races at Williams Grove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and Lincoln Speedway during that time. He also contended for the 358 Point Championship at Williams Grove in 2006 before leaving the team for another opportunity. Nouse believes this past experience, coupled with the opportunity to work with mechanic Tracy Barrick again, will make them a strong team in 2013. “Tracy was there when I drove the car in 2006 and we had a lot of success together. In 2008, he was working with another team and the #4R team wasn’t the same without him. He is very good at what he does and we work well together.” Nouse added, “There’s a level of trust when you have a guy like that in your pit area and that makes it easier for me to get the job done out on the track. I see no reason why we won’t be a weekly contender for wins and a serious championship contender with Tracy and I working together again.”
Although the R&R team is still putting together their 2013 schedule, Nouse stated that they are looking at running approximately 25 races, with their main efforts being focused on winning the Williams Grove Speedway 358 title. He also said that they will not be running at any Saturday night tracks on a weekly basis, and will probably just compete in special shows at various tracks instead.
Confirmed sponsors on the #4R car at this time are Robert Yocum Financial Planner, Nouse Signs & Graphics, Highlands Powersports, Ultra-Shield Racing Products, K1 Race Gear and Factory Kahne Shocks. The team will use Maxim Chassis and is currently in negotiations with additional sponsors with hopes of announcing them in the near future.

Hammaker makes last turn pass become first Lincoln repeat winner in 358 sprints
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA, 6/6/2015 – Danny Dietrich was hearing things at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night.
And that was good, because it kept his elbows up in a 35-lap feature that paid $7,000 to win and an automatic starting spot in the September 26th Lincoln “Dirt Classic” paying $20,000 to win.
“I don’t how far ahead I was,” said Dietrich after scoring his second Lincoln win of the year and 25th of his career in the Pigeon Hills, “When you get out front there you think you hear people. I thought Stevie was under me in turn four that one lap. I kinda moved down on the straightaway because I thought I heard somebody.”
Second place Stevie Smith, who wasn’t as close as Dietrich thought, got into Dietrich’s dirty air every time he tried to pull close, and settled for the runner-up spot 1.9 seconds behind Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Hickory Run Orchards/Weikert’s Livestock #48.
After gathering points through time trials and qualifiers that saw the early time trailers start at the back of their respective heats, Dietrich (ninth in time trials and winner of his heat) drew the number three pill for the redraw at the front of the feature field.
Polesitter and early-race leader Kyle Moody was nearly collected and did a “360” to keep moving when Brent Marks spun out on turn four of lap six. At the time, Moody had a three-second lead. Just before the caution, Dietrich caught Ott for the runner-up spot.
Moody led the next seven laps before Dietrich slid under him exiting turn two of lap 14. Dietrich led the rest of the way, and Moody did another “360” under green on turn four of lap 14, just before being collected by a spun-out Tim Glatfelter in turn one to end his night.
Ott assumed second for the restart, but Stevie Smith drove around the Bruner’s Service Center for second on lap 22. At the time, Dietrich was 1.53 seconds ahead. Smith did his best to close on the leader, and Dietrich, feeling the pressure, had one close call trying to clear Adam Wilt with only a few laps to go.
“I had to kinda push the issue with Adam,” explained Dietrich, “But I had to get moving. I wasn’t going to drive into him, but I had to press the issue and it worked out for us. Here we are.”
“Stevie’s fast every time he hits the track,” said Dietrich, “It feels good to beat him because his winning percentage is pretty darn good…a lot better than ours. To beat Stevie and Greg and Brian and Aaron…all those guys…it’s just awesome to get a win on the big stage here tonight.”
Ott settled for third, with tenth-starting Brian Montieth coming home fourth. New one-lap track record holder Lucas Wolfe crossed fifth. Sixth through tenth were Greg Hodnett, 12th-starting Alan Krimes, 14th-starting Niki Young, Lance Dewease, and 16th-starting Freddie Rahmer.
Heats for the 410’s were won by Billy Dietrich, Marks, Moody, and Danny Dietrich, with Austin Hogue winning the consolation. Fast time in time trials over the 33-car field was set by Lucas Wolfe with a record-setting one-lap time 12.719 seconds (106.140 MPH). Brent Marks won the “Fans Choice” Dash.
Lincoln Speedway and Central PA “358” Point Series leader Doug Hammaker became the first repeat winner of 2015 in the 20-lap “358” sprint feature. And he did it in dramatic fashion, sliding polesitter and race-long leader Ryan Higgins in heavy lapped traffic on the final two turns to the checkered flag.
Higgins, shooting for his first career win, settled for second, with 11th-starting Kevin Nouse, Cody Fletcher, and Tyler Esh rounding out the top five. Adrian Shaffer, who did a “360” in turn four while racing with Higgins for the lead with six laps to go, lost several spots but came back to finish sixth.
Heats for the 30 358’s were won by Hammaker, Matt Campbell, and John Braim, with Jeff Rohrbaugh winning the consolation.
Next Saturday night, June 13th, the NEW ALL-STAR CIRCUIT OF CHAMPIONS come to take on the Pennsylvania Posse. The 410 Sprints will be joined by the 358 Sprints. In addition, we will be holding York Flooring KIDS BIG WHEEL RACES! Time trials get underway at 7:30 PM, with gates opening at 5:30 PM.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to Lawrenceburg Speedway on Friday night
CONCORD, N.C. – Oct. 13, 2015 – With the 2015 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season fast coming to an end, one driver finding his stride is Logan Schuchart. In recent weeks, Schuchart has scored three straight top-10 finishes including two straight podium finishes at Berlin Raceway and Williams Grove Speedway.
The 22-year-old, Hanover, Pennsylvania native, now in his sophomore year with the series, said he has learned a lot in the last year, building confidence as a driver and progressing along with his Shark Racing team.
"I think we’ve been a lot more consistent all year. I think there are certain tracks that we’ve gone to that we were at in years past that we could go to and just had notes built up. That way we felt when the track was a certain way we could change the car. We felt confident we’d be fast and it showed. I think there are some other ones here lately, especially when the track gets slick, we seem to be better… I’m just trying to drive the cars better and it seems like it has been working out lately."
Schuchart, the grandson of hall of fame driver Bobby Allen (Allen is also his car owner), has nearly doubled the number of top-10 runs he has had this season and has one more top-five finish. The consistency puts him 10th in the championship points standings with five features left.
Two big factors playing a role in the improved consistency, Schuchart said, is the confidence to use his own experience to make changes to his car when necessary and having a teammate, Jacob Allen, to share notes and make changes with. Where one struggles, the other can help lift them both.
"If I go out in a Heat race and I’m bad and we thought something needed to be changed, we could change it to Jake’s car and if he goes out and does better then we feel like we went in the right direction. It’s kind of like running two Heat races, getting another shot at it. It helps you to be able to talk to each other and see what the other one feels – if one liked the car a certain way or why the car wasn’t working."
Heading into Lawrenceburg on Friday, Schuchart said he looks forward to another chance at the track following the rainout earlier this season.
"Lawrenceburg is a track I don’t have a lot of experience on so it’ll be new to try to figure out how to setup the car and driving wise. Hopefully we can figure it out pretty quick because it’s a fun little race track."
Looking beyond the next few weeks and World Finals, Schuchart said the team is on track to return to competition with the World of Outlaws in 2016.
"We got a lot better this year and we hope to be even better next year. We’re building up our stuff. XXX Chassis has helped us out a lot, Don Ott Racing Engines, Penske Shocks, Marty Thompson Investments, Newman’s Towing and Recovery, C&B Mushroom Farms. We couldn’t do it without those guys but we plan on doing the Outlaw tour again and improving and doing even better."

In 2011, Davie "No Panic" Franek of Wantage, NJ joined the ranks of URC for in his first season and he was immediately viewed as a title contender. He scored his first win with URC in his inaugural year and was a threat on any given night to win the feature. Every year since 2011, Franek was in the hunt for the championship title. In 2012, Franek and Robbie Stillwaggon went head-to-head each weekend chasing points and it all went down to the last race of the season, with Stillwaggon earning the title over Franek who finished a well-earned second.
The 2013 URC campaign once again saw Franek in the spotlight as the potential champion.
A wild August crash at the Lincoln Speedway changed what might have been a different outcome. After starting fourteenth, Franek was as high as fourth on lap six when he and another car tangled in turn three, with Franek flipping violently, hanging his 360 sprint car on the third turn catch fence. Davie walked away uninjured, but this one night would be the turning point of the balance of the season. Franek did finish a very respectable third in the season long Rislone URC Sprint Series title chase, with the championship title going to JJ Grasso with Josh Weller a close second.
Like many current day sprint car drivers, Davie Franek started his driving career in 1995 racing go-karts. He later advanced to the micro-sprints before moving into the 358 sprints. His first race was at the Lincoln Speedway but he quickly made the Selinsgrove Speedway his weekly Saturday night stop. In total, Franek has more than a dozen feature wins with his biggest moments coming in 2005 and 2006 when he won both season finale’s in the 358 Championship events at the Trailway’s Speedway.
In 2011, Franek won his first URC feature, that victory coming at the Delaware International Speedway. The night before, he won the 358 sprint feature at the Williams Grove Speedway, making it a very popular double-win weekend.
"Preparation is key to being successful on race night", commented Davie Franek. "We believe the prep work needs to happen during the week in the garage, if you’re doing the prep work at the track on race night, you’re already behind your competitors". Davie’s dad is a key part of the team’s success. "He’s real good on chassis set-up and that’s something we work together on". Davie continued to say, "Our results show that my Dad and I are on the same page, all we could use is some help during the week in the garage and some help on race night at the track".
It comes as no surprise that the experience of Dave Franek comes from his own driving experiences, wheeling a modified at tracks like Middletown, Nazareth and 5 Mile Point, earlier in his racing career.
A few years back, URC made a controversial decision to go with double-file restarts in the feature event. Predictions of numerous accidents, rough riding and bad starts never did materialize. From Davie’s viewpoint, "The double-file restarts are no issue, let’s face it, if you’re good, you’re going to finish upfront regardless of single or double-file restarts".
Some strong teams are in place with URC in 2014 including the Josh Weller and Ken Eldreth recently announced team. Eight time URC Champion Curt Michael and the Bill Gallagher #5G will be a title contender along with Brian Carber driving the Guy Howie sprinter, and now, . . . . . Davie Franek is planning another run to chase a URC Championship. In 2014, who will be Davie Franek’s biggest challenge? "Mainly ourselves, and as long as we come prepared, we plan to be in the running to win the championship", said Franek.
The Dave Franek Auto Sales sponsored 360 sprinter will carry the familiar #28F with sponsorship support from Bobby Hearn and Winters Performance. Look for a new sprint car with a slightly different paint job to be in action at some of the big payday events in 2014.
A very attractive 2014 Rislone URC Sprint Series schedule has been released. A two race Carolina weekend will open the season April 11 and 12. Both races are non-point shows. The first URC point race of the season will take place at the Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night, April 19.
