Inside Line Promotions – PHOENIX, Ariz. (Jan. 17, 2017) – X-1 Race Cars is moving across the country this spring.
The sprint car chassis company will shift its headquarters from the desert to the Northeast in an effort to expand the business in the hotbed of winged sprint car action in Central Pennsylvania and New York.
“We’ve had a huge response to the market in that part of the country so I want to expand my business there,” X-1 Race Cars Founder Ryan Linder said. “Jason Barney is the one who got me started in that area and Ryan Smith has helped facilitate our move there so I want to thank them for being a major part of this.”
Linder, who was born and raised in Mexico, Ind., and who has raced sprint cars since 2001, has been involved in the chassis industry since the late 1990s. He worked for chassis builders in Gasoline Alley as well as in California before creating X-1 Race Cars in 2010.
“I decided I could build a better race car than I could buy,” he said. “I build each chassis to order for what a customer’s needs are. We are very meticulous.”
Additionally, Linder, who also has extensive experience building custom motorcycles and performing restorations within the vintage racing community, has made a name for himself in the custom header industry as a master fabricator and welder.
“X-1 Race Cars isn’t just a guy in a garage piecing things together,” he said. “We take a lot of pride in our craft of building the highest quality and most consistent chassis possible.”
X-1 Race Cars, which will operate out of sprint car driver Dale Schweikert’s shop near Lockhaven, Pa., also offers chassis repair and updates as well as any chassis components, including products from Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Saldana Racing Products, DMI, 87 Speed Racing Products, KSE Racing Products, Wilwood Brakes, Schroeder Series torsion bars, Outlaw Wings, King Racing Products, Smith Precision Products and Mote Fasteners.
“I couldn’t make this move without the support of my wife, Holly, who has been pushing me to go east and take a chance,” Linder said. “I would never consider doing something like this unless she was 100 percent behind it.”

All are adjectives that can be used to accurately describe Bryan Clauson. But they’d only begin to scratch the surface of what a truly remarkable young man he was. Always quick with a smile and never too busy to say hello or catch up, Clauson was the epitome of what a dirt-track legend represents. Only scratching the surface of what was to surely be a storied winged Sprint Car career, Clauson earned four victories in the Matt Wood Racing No. 17W entry in 2016.

Outlaw Jason Johnson takes the night in points standings
KNOXVILLE, Iowa – Aug. 11, 2016 – Night two of the 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores was more than a race to the finish on the A-Main; it was a race in time to beat the impending storms. And Tim Kaeding nailed it. "King of California" Kaeding took to Victory Lane just before severe thunderstorms storms descended on Knoxville.
"I’ve got to give this one to B.C.," said Kaeding, dedicating his win to Bryan Clauson. "Here’s another one towards your 200. I grew up racing with his Dad. Just a great family and a hell of a racecar driver." It was an emotional night with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. leading the field under parade laps driving Bryan Clauson’s 17W.
Thursday’s 25-lap A-Main is Kaeding’s third career Knoxville Nationals preliminary feature. "It’s so unbelievable," said Kaeding. "We’ve struggled so bad here at Knoxville the last few years, especially in this 3[K] car. We had a win taken away last year, because we had a muffler that was tampered with more than anything. You know, we’ve been fast. We just haven’t been as fast as we need to be, so for us to be able to come out tonight and win prelim night at Knoxville is a feat within itself."
With 20 World of Outlaws Craftsman@ Sprint Car Series victories under his belt, Kaeding charged from fourth position to second at the wave of the green, tailing Dale Blaney and finally passing him in Lap 8.
A later caution for Justin Henderson, then in third, cleared the field for Outlaw Jason Johnson and last year’s Knoxville Nationals Night 2 winner Terry McCarl to pass Blaney and duke it out for second in the final laps. McCarl managed to take it for a moment in Lap 22, but couldn’t hold it, and Johnson shot forward, looking to Kaeding just a little too late.
Coming out of Heat 1, where McCarl scored the fourth spot, the Price Chopper No. 7x had a quick engine change. "We were kind of in a hurry there, and I didn’t get the car set up exactly the way I wanted to,"said McCarl. "I think we can definitely be a lot better come Saturday night."
Meanwhile, it was a good night for the Outlaws in Time Trials with Brad Sweet making quicktime at 15.465 seconds (and winning the Last Chance Showdown), followed by Outlaws Joey Saldana and David Gravel, former Outlaw Kerry Madsen, and Outlaw Jason Johnson, who later scored his second place spot in the A-Main.
"It’s great confidence for my race team," said Johnson. "To be part of the World of Outlaws category you’ve got to defend your territory. Obviously we wanted to win, but I felt like we had a really good run."
Two Outlaws will lead the field to green on Saturday night, Daryn Pittman and Jason Johnson.
Going into Friday’s 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals, Daryn Pittman holds the lead in points standings with 485 points. Jason Johnson holds a close second with 481, followed by Kerry Madsen at 479, and Jamie Veal at 477. Donny Schatz and Chad Kemenah are tied for the fifth spot at 476.

KNOXVILLE, IA: Tim Kaeding completed the comeback in his Sprint Car career Thursday night at Knoxville Raceway.
A couple of years ago, Kaeding was forced to take some time off from the sport. He needed to get some personal things in order before he could even think about getting back in a car.
But Kaeding got another shot with Midwest owner Dave Lunstra. And the California driver has been content and grateful ever since.
That feeling turned to celebration during Night 2 of the Knoxville Nationals. Kaeding drove under Dale Blaney and went on to score his third qualifying night victory at the famed oval.
The triumph was also special in that it came on a big half mile, a program the Lunstra team has struggled with this season. It was also a win that paid $12,000 and locked Kaeding into Saturday’s A-main.
“It feels amazing,” Kaeding said. “Dave Lunstra gave me an opportunity to do what I do and for us to be a team that is underfunded … we are a short-track team.
“For us to come here and beat guys like Terry [McCarl] and Jason [Johnson], who have run big tracks more than I have, it’s awesome.”
Continued Kaeding, “We finally found something these last few weeks and got it going … pretty much got the driver’s head out of his you know what. We are having fun.”
And a lot of it.
Kaeding started fourth on the grid, but he charged into second behind Blaney with a low move through Turns 3 and 4 to pass Justin Henderson on Lap 1.
While Kaeding was chasing down Blaney, Johnson and McCarl were locked in a tight battle for fourth. Johnson took the position on the bottom of Turn 1 and set his sights on Henderson.
Kaeding closed on Blaney going down the backstretch on Lap 8. He ripped to the bottom of Turn 3 and had the lead by a nose at the flagstand.
Blaney tried to come back in the next corner, but Kaeding had him covered. The Lunstra Motorsports ace hit the bottom perfect and mashed the accelerator off the exit of Turn 2 to pull away to a sizable advantage.
“It was a prayer and a whim at that point,” Kaeding said. “We had a great car tonight. I was able to stick low in one and two, not so much in three and four, but I really have to thank my crew.
“They stuck with me the last couple of months, and we want to come out and just have some fun.”
