Series takes on Angell Park Speedway for the first time ever on Aug. 21
CONCORD, N.C. – Aug. 10, 2016 – The World of Outlaws Craftsmanยฎ Sprint Car Series has partnered with the Bumper-to-Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Car Series for the Cornfest on Sunday, Aug. 21 at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis.
The event, which takes place during the annual Sweet Corn Festival, will be the Outlaws first ever appearance at the historic, 1/3-mile Angell Park.
“We are excited to join the IRA Sprints for this great event and the opportunity to see the Outlaws take on Angell Park,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. “The IRA regulars provide the Outlaw regulars some of their toughest competition all season. I have no doubt, Cornfest will be one to remember.”
Earlier this season, IRA regular Bill Balog dominated the World of Outlaws event at Beaver Dam (Wis.) Raceway, scoring his first ever series win.
“Having the Outlaws join the IRA at Cornfest marks the continuation of a great relationship between these two series,” said IRA Sprint Car Series President Steve Sinclair. “We are excited at the opportunity to make Cornfest even bigger this year with the addition of the World of Outlaws.”
Joining the Outlaws and IRA Sprints for Cornfest will be the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association. This will be the second time this season the series has joined the Outlaws, after taking on Rockford Speedway in June.

Mechanicsburg – Brian Montieth of Phoenixville outraced Fawn Grove’s Matt Campbell to pick up his second Williams Grove Speedway sprint car victory of the season on Friday night.
Campbell led untl the final lap and a half when Montieth got by for the win.
In the URC Sprint main, URC point leader Davie Franek proved victorious, scoring in 360 action for the first time at the track although he already owned a pair of 358 sprint car wins at the oval.
Rodney Westhafer led only the first lap of the 25-lap sprint car main before the red flag unfurled for a flip in the first turn that saw Nicole Bower leave the speedway.
Bower was uninjured.
Westhafer started on the pole of the main and Campbell flanked him and the pair ran one-two until the halfway point when Cambpell was able to slice across the turns for the lead.
But all the while Cambpell was working on Westhafer, 10th starter Montieth was moving forward, up to fifth on the eighth lap and then fourth over Cory Haas on the same lap as Cambpell took the lead.
After getting control, Cambpell at times struggled with lapped cars as Montieth continued his march, taking second from Westhafer with eight laps to go.
Witih four laps to go, Montieth had caught Cambpell for the lead but just then Cambpell made some great moves in traffic that proved to buy him some time and that coupled with a Montieth miscue in the second turn with three to go, again gave Campbell some breathing room.
But with two to go Montieth had made up for his mistake and the then followed Cambpell down the backchute with a run before blasting to the inside in the third and fourth turns to take command for the win, his first since April 22 at the track.
Westhafer was third followed by Brock Zearfoss and Austin Hogue.
Sixth through 10th went to Cory Haas, Alan Krimes, Doug Esh, Tim Glatfelter and Rick Lafferty.
Heats went to Esh, Krimes and Zearfoss.
Montieth walked away with $4,300 for his win including a $500 bonus for winning from the fifth row. His winning margin was .085 seconds.
Doug Esh won the Jim Campbell Jr. Hard Charger worth $300 while Glenndon Forsythe was the lucky driver picked to win $500 also in honor of Campbell.
The URC main had Justin Whittall leading the first 11 laps before third starter Franek went out front off of turn four.
But Whittall proved tough to pass for Franek as he bolted back into control as the pair hit the first corner but then Franek himself came back after Whittall to make the pass stick in the next set of turns before pulling away.
Fifth starter Chuck Hebing mixed it up throughout the event, eventually ending up second, 1.754 seconds behind at the finish.
Finishing third was Eric Tomecek followed by Jason Schultz and Josh Weller, who completed a whale of a run from the 18th starting spot.
Sixth through 10th went to Derek Locke, Whittall who faded late, Jimmy Stitzel, Curt Michael and Glenndon Forsythe.
Heats went to Robbie Stillwaggon, Hebing and Chris Coyle.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA (AUGUST 11, 2016) – After a sixteen-year hiatus, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series brings Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions back to the Berks County high banked Grandview Speedway on Thursday, August 18. This huge 410 sprint show is presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings.
Anticipation is at a pinnacle as this event marks the first and only 2016 appearance of the Arctic Cat All Stars. Competitors from across Pennsylvania are looking to lay claim to the $5,000 winner’s share and defend the home turf against the All Star invaders. A hefty $500 is paid just to take the green in the 35 lap feature event. Name recognition is huge for this event with the talents of Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell and Kenny Jacobs giving the nod that they will be in the field
Leading the charge for the Pennsylvania Posse is 9-time Thunder on the Hill winner Greg Hodnett of Thomasville, PA. Hodnett is a threat to win at any race track and has bested the All Stars on 21 occasions. Other expected Pennsylvania entrants include Danny Dietrich, winner of the 2015 Thunder Cup and winner of the 2016 All Star event at Selinsgrove Speedway; Stevie Smith, winner of the 2016 Thunder Cup at Grandview; and 11-time Thunder on the Hill feature winner Lance Dewease.
Fierce competitors like Ryan Smith of Kunkletown, PA, and Brent Marks of Myerstown, PA have taken multiple All Star wins – three for Smith and two for Marks, both in 2015 — however, despite great runs both search for their first Thunder on the Hill victory.
While the series schedule for the All Stars winds down, the battle for the Championship heats up. Chad Kemenah, a previous winner at Grandview Speedway; leads Dale Blaney, who claimed the most wins of any driver this season; and Sheldon Haudenschild, a 22-year-old third-generation racer from Wooster, Ohio.
Entrants for Thursday, August 18 is ‘The King’ Steve Kinser, a 4-time Thunder on the Hill winner, 20-time Outlaw series champion, and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame driver. In his only Pennsylvania appearance this year, Kinser pulls no punches — he is coming to Grandview to win.
Also in competition is three-time Outlaw champion and five-time Chili Bowl Midget race winner Sammy Swindell.
Previous All Star winners at Grandview include Cris Eash (2000), Jeff Sheppard (1999), Fred Rahmer (1999), Billy Pauch (May 1998, August 1998), Donnie Kreitz (1997, 1986), Jimmy Horton (1982), and Steve Smith Sr. (1982).
The 410 Sprint Car competitors will chase a $5,000 winner’s share for 35 laps of action on the famed 1/3 mile Grandview Speedway. The tenth position pays $1,000 with $500 to start the A-Main. A $100 Quick Time bonus is up for grabs, along with a $200 bonus to the first 360/358 Sprint Car and a $100 bonus to the second 360/358 Sprint Car.
Also on the card is the TSRS Sprint Car Series, competing in a series of qualifying events leading up to a 25 lap feature event. TSRS likely competitors include Mike Haggenbottom, Jeff Geiges, Tim Tanner, Jr., Samantha Lieberman, Ryan Stillwaggon, Dave Bonner, Mark Bitner, Dave Brown, Jon Haegel, Tim Smolenyak and Jeff Taylor just to name a few.
General Admission Tickets for Thursday, August 18 are $30 for adults, $10 for children (6-11), and children under 6 are FREE!

All Star Enterprises, LLC, wholly owned by Tony Stewart, d/b/a the All Star Circuit of Champions, is a winged sprint car series. The All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series is one of the oldest traveling 410 sprint car organizations and is a staple of grassroots, open-wheel racing. Outlaws Take over Victory Lane at 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals
KNOXVILLE, Iowa – Aug. 13, 2016 – The 56th running of the 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Store culminated Saturday night with the grandstands on their feet as the Ragin’ Cajun took home the win in one of the most exciting Knoxville Nationals in recent history, depriving fellow-Outlaw Donny Schatz of his tenth Nationals win.
With fireworks ablaze behind him, Jason Johnson stood on the back of his Priority Aviation #41 Maxim pounding his fists in the air as he celebrated his first-ever Nationals win and claimed the $150,000 prize.
It was a big night for the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series as three Outlaws took over Victory Lane: Johnson, Schatz and Shane Stewart. As outlaws are wont to do, they rode in, took the loot, and left nothing but dust in their trail.
"I gave it my all," said Johnson. "I wanted to win just as bad as Donny wanted to win, just as bad as Shane wanted to win – and probably everybody that started in A-Main. My guys gave me a great race car and I got very fortunate."
After his runner-up finish on Night 2, the Cajun Sensation was the high point driver of the night, earning him the spot beside another fellow-Outlaw, Daryn Pittman, who started on the pole. Kerry Madsen and Jamie Veal followed, with Schatz in fifth.
By Lap 2, the battle between Schatz and Johnson was on as Schatz came up to third. Meanwhile, Outlaws Shane Stewart and Brad Sweet battled it out for sixth, with Stewart holding his ground.
Pittman hit traffic by Lap 9, and Johnson battled him from the cushion – from where he won the race – for the next couple of laps, taking the lead off the fourth turn in Lap 11. But it was short lived. Lap 12 saw Pittman and Schatz pass Johnson. And in the next two laps Schatz and Johnson charged past Pittman.
By Lap 15, the race looked as expected, with the nine-time champ a half stretch ahead.
A caution for Craig Dollansky allowed Madsen to get past Pittman, and Stewart worked his way to fifth, but Schatz held a strong lead when the mandatory caution was called after Lap 25.
The real battle began on the restart with Johnson on the cushion and Schatz down low. Johnson took the lead with a slide job off turn 4 and continued to ride the cushion so high he nearly climbed the wall in Lap 34.
Meanwhile, Madsen made a play for second, taking it from Schatz for three laps; and another three laps later, in Lap 44, Schatz took the lead back from Johnson. They battle was on as they worked the half-mile Knoxville Raceway. Jason. Donny. Jason. Donny. They battled hard, but the victory was just not meant to be for the reigning champ as Johnson "Parked It" .168 seconds earlier for the win.
"I didn’t think he could race that hard for 50 laps, but he did,"said Schatz, who didn’t think the race could be won from the top. "He did one hell of a job. I mean to run the last ten laps, or last lap – any lap during this race – it means the worlds toughtest spot in sprint car racing. And he figured out how to make it work and get there first, so hats off to him. Next year I’d like to be the one to win. But he won. He earned it. He did one hell of a job, and he figured out how to do it."
"I know Donny wasn’t happy with me after the checkers, and that really kind of bothers me because I respect Donny as a driver and I want his respect as well," said Johnson. "I don’t want to wreck nobody, and I want to race people clean, but like I told him, ‘God damn, dude, this is Knoxville Nationals!’"
The winning outlaw trio showed a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for each other in post-race interviews. Johnson stated he got a lesson from Stewart before the race and spent a lot of time talking with him about how to race the track. "All in all it’s a testament to friendship, to what life is all about, and to B.C.," he said.
This important win for Johnson, flanked by Stewart and Schatz during the post-race press conference, is a great nod to his 2016 drivers interview at the start of season: "The biggest competition has to be Donny Schatz because he has set the standard," said Johnson back in February. "But as a team, we measure ourselves up to Shane Stewart and Larson-Marks Racing because he comes from the same background as I do and he’s with a team that’s only been out here for a couple years as well."

After coming very close to winning on several occasions over the last couple of years, the 23-year-old scored his first Outlaws win earlier this season and has been in contention for a handful more.
The Pennsylvania native looks to keep his strong season going as he returns to Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., on Tuesday, August 16, as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series is presented by Henderson Irrigation, Friesen Auto Group, Penner’s Tire Pros, Sutton Electric Inc., Todd’s Body and Glass, Southeast Community College and a special thanks to Bill Otto. Schuchart was the KSE Hard Charger Award winner last season at Junction, powering his way to an eighth-place finish, after starting 15th.
“Junction (Motor Speedway) is a fast track,” said Schuchart. “You need a very strong motor for it. We go there right after the (Knoxville) Nationals, so we’ll have a solid motor in the car. We got going pretty good in the feature there last year, so hopefully we can do that again. We were able to move around a bit and I ran up against the wall and had some fun. Hopefully we can have some fun again.”
Schuchart picked up that elusive first World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on July 8 at Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin. He certainly earned it, as he held off seven-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz en route to the victory. Schuchart nearly won at Weedsport Speedway in New York, back in May, leading 30 laps, only to have Schatz get by him with five circuits remaining.
“The win definitely lifted a little pressure off us,” said Schuchart. “I hope that we keep getting closer and closer. We ran fourth at Ohsweken (Speedway in Canada) a few races ago and started 14th. I wish we had started up front a little bit more there and I think we could have had a shot at Donny (Schatz) in that one. Slick tracks are what we like, so hopefully when we go to Junction, it’s slick and we can move around a bit. We like all the track and are trying to make ourselves better at all of them.”
Schuchart, who is part of the two-car Shark Racing team, which is owned by his grandfather, Hall of Famer, Bobby Allen, approaches each race as its own entity. While the team may not have the budget or resources that many of their competitors have, they make the most of what they do have and put forth their best effort every time they hit the track.
“Every race is its own game and every one of these is hard to win,” he explained. “We just try to make ourselves better at each race and progress as the night goes on. Where you end up is where you end up. We do the best we can every time we hit the track and some nights are better than others.”
While the format in place this season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series puts a large emphasis on time trials, it also allows a driver an opportunity to work their way from further back in a heat race into a position to make the dash or at least move up a couple of rows in the main event starting lineup. On the night that Schuchart won, he timed in 10th-fastest and was able to race his way to second in a heat race to earn a spot in the dash, where he finished second to start on the front row of the A-Feature. Schuchart traded the lead with veteran driver Joey Saldana a couple of times in that race en route to scoring the win.
“Time trials has always been important,” he noted. “You have to be good the whole night, every time you hit the race track. The goal is to always finish up front, no matter if it’s a heat race, the dash or the feature. If you time trial well, then you can work to stay up front in the heat race and that will put you in a good spot for the dash and feature. That’s how you put yourself in a position to reach victory lane and that’s our goal each night.”
When the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series rolls into Junction Motor Speedway on Tuesday, August 16, around 25 nights of racing will remain on the season. Schuchart would like nothing more than to add a few more wins to his resume before the season ends. Through action on August 11, Schuchart is eighth in points, with one win and 22 top-10 finishes, of which seven are top-five performances. He also has been fastest in time trials on two occasions in 2016.
“Hopefully we can pick up a couple of more wins,” said Schuchart, when asked about his outlook for the rest of the season. “One is not enough and it’s not enough for anybody. We have enough races left on the schedule and we have been rolling pretty well lately, that I think we can pick up a couple more wins. We’ve learned a lot this year and I think we can put ourselves out front if we keep working hard and putting ourselves in good positions.”

JOSH WELLER CAPTURES URC/358 SPRINT CHALLENGE WIN; First Time Wins for Dan Zechman in Late Models and Robbie Carroll in Roadwarriors
YORK HAVEN, PA 8/13/16
Josh Weller out-dueled point leader Davie Franek during Saturday night’s 25-lap URC/358 Sprint Challenge at Susquehanna Speedway and went onto score his second URC win of the season.
Franek, the winner in URC action Friday night, started on the pole and led lap one before Mark Smith went out front and led the next two circuits.
Franek regained the lead from Smith on the fourth tour and was leading Smith on the ninth lap when Smith slowed on the speedway to bring out a caution.
Following a caution on an attempted double file restart, a single file restart saw Weller, of Mertztown, PA jump to the outside of Franek and won the race off the second corner to take the lead with 11 laps down and he would never look back in scoring the win aboard his No. 63 Sprint.
Franek rode home in the runner-up spot ahead of Robbie Stillwaggon with Doug Hammaker coming from his 13th starting spot to finish fourth, the highest finishing 358 sprint car in the field. Derek Locke finished fifth as Eric Tomecek, Curt Michael, Justin Whittall, Steven Drevicki and Dave Betts completing the top ten finishers.
Jordan Givler, Stillwwaggon and Weller won heats for the 27 Sprint cars.
Hanover, PA racer Dan Zechman led flag to flag tto pick up his first win of the year in the 25-lap 358 late model feature.
Zechman started on the pole and would dominate the feature, becoming the fifth different winner this season as he took the checkered flag over Shaun Jones, ninth-starting and point leader Randy Christine, Jr., Steve Billet and 16th starter Chase Billet.
Completing the top ten finishers were Dave Latsha, Mark Billet, Randy Stoudt, Jake Jones and Matt Murphy.
Heats for the 19 late models were won by Shaun Jones and Cameron Benyou.
Robbie Carroll started second in the 15-lap Road Warrior feature and also became that divisions fifth different winner.
Carroll led lap one before Justin Cardasso led the next two laps but Carroll went back out front on lap four and drove to the win over Cardasso, Daryl Sipe, Travis Brown and Lee Redman.
Cardasso and Carroll were heat winners for the 13-car field.
It will be another big two day racing program at Susquehanna Speedway as the Heavy Equipment Loaders & Parts Inc. /Nouse Signs 358 Sprint Summer Series will highlight the Saturday, August 20 racing program. The Credit Connection Auto Sales Super Sportsman, Xtreme Stocks and Classic Car Series will share the program with the 358 Sprint cars. Pits open at 4PM, Grandstands at 5PM and Racing at 7PM
Then on Sunday, August 21, the BAPS Coatings & Supplies 410 Sprint Car Series will be back in action as the 410 Sprint cars go in the Justin Snyder Salute to the Troops event. The Sprint cars will be going after the $5,000 top prize. The PASS/IMCA 305 Sprints will also be on the program. Pits open at 4PM, Grandstands at 5PM and Racing at 7PM.
