Christine and Updegraff Repeat Winners; Combs New Winner

YORK HAVEN, PA…5/27/17
After claiming his first career win in exciting fashion just over a month ago, Kenny Edkin backed that up with an impressive win in Saturday night’s Blazers Body Shop Bud Bricker Nationals presented by Sutliff Chevrolet at Susquehanna Speedway.

The Marysville, PA racer started on the outside front row of the 40 lap feature along Scott Dellinger but it would be Dellinger who would gain control at the onset and held the point through numerous early and mid-race cautions.

Edkin stayed in Dellinger’s tracks and made a bid for the lead with 29 laps complete to take the top spot. Like Edkin, Dellinger stayed close and made another bid for the top spot with five laps to go but jumped the cushion. That was enough to give Edkin some breathing room as he sped away to his second win of the season and the first repeat winner in the division this season.

The win was worth $2,500 to Edkin and his Edkins Towing, Marysville Motorcars, Carlisle Auto Salvage, King Spin Pizza, Rich Valley Black Walnuts sponsored team.

Dellinger, who set fast time over the 31-car field and won the Dash settled for the runner-up spot over Tony Jackson, Russ Mitten and 11th starting Paul Miller with Rich Eichelberger earning the Brown and Miller Race Solutions Hard Charger coming from 15th to sixth trailed by Jay Fannasy, Mike Enders, Gregg Foster and Devin Beidel.

Dellinger’s time trial lap was 17.303 while heats were won by Troy Hockenberry, Mitten and Jackson. Bruce Buckwalter, Jr. won the consolation.

Defending track champion Randy Christine, Jr., also became the first repeat winner in the Bernheisel Race Cars 358 Late Model feature as he came from his fifth starting spot to claim his second season win.

Ben Whitaker led the first 11 laps before Sean Merkel took over until lap 15 when Christine powered into the top spot and never looked back as he took the checkered flag over ninth starting and Artwerks by Jeff Jacobs Hard Charger winner Charles Potts. Third went to to Chase Billet over Brad Shank and Whitaker with Andrew Stotler, Sam Rial, Merkel, JR Rodriquez and Drew Weisser completing the top ten.

Whitaker and Merkel were heat winners for the 17 late models.

Jimmy Combs came out on top of a wild finish in the 20-lap Morgan Paving/Aqua Fun Pools Street Stock feature to become the fifth different winner in as many races.

A final lap double file restart set up the last lap dramatics as Matt Adams got the jump on leader Eddie Richards going into the first and second turns. As the duo entered turn three, Richards got into Adams, sending both spinning as Combs drove by for the win over Mike Potts, Craig Morgan, 11th starting Scott Thunberg and 16th starter Jasen Geesaman, the Artwerks Hard Charger winner.

Mike Buckely and Thunberg won heats for the 19 car field.

For the fifth time this season, defending track champion Alex Updegraff led the way to the checkers in the Superior Homes Extreme Stocks as he dominated the 20 lap main for the win over Patrick McClane, Jeff Gill, Donnie Broderick and Kyle Emig.

Updegraff was also the heat winner for the 11 car field.

Susquehanna Speedway returns to action Thursday night, June 1 with the first ever appearance of the Ernie D’s Appalachian Mountain Late Model Speedweek presented by DirtonDirt.com at the speedway. The high flying super late models will take to the Susky red clay in the second night of the 2017 Speedweek series. Also on the racing program sponsored by Creekside Auto Sales will be the Bernheisel Race Cars 358 Late Models. Race time is 7PM.

Chase Dietz concludes sophomore season at Susquehanna

YORK, PA (November 7, 2016) – Third generation racer Chase Dietz concluded his sophomore season behind the wheel of a 410ci sprint car on Saturday afternoon, November 5, during the Sprint Showdown at Susquehanna Speedway near York Haven, Pennsylvania. Dietz finished 11th during his final appearance of the 2016 season, ultimately fighting for a top-ten position after racing through the consolation B-main and starting 22nd on the main event grid.

Unfortunately for Dietz, involvement in an on-track incident with just ten circuits remaining halted any further progress for the Troy Godfrey-owned/Godfrey Racing Engines/No. 5 entry. The team was able to recover quickly and still finish 11th.

“It wasn’t a bad way to end a year. I think we were definitely a top-ten race car, but we got caught up in a wreck which kept us from any additional progress,” Dietz explained. “Lucky for me, my guys were able to get things cleaned up which got me back on track. We had a lot of speed on Saturday, but we just didn’t have enough time to show it. I’m happy with how the afternoon went. We’ll take those results and begin building for next season.”

Chase Dietz will enter the winter months with one main event victory on the season, that occurring on Saturday, July 16, at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. The win in the “Pigeon Hills” was the second of his career.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support this season. I had a great year and I am thrilled to be associated with the people that I am,” Chase Dietz said. “I had the privilege to pilot a few different cars in 2016. I can’t thank all of those people enough for the opportunity, especially my family and Troy Godfrey. We are already looking ahead to next year. I’m sure things will be bigger and better than ever.”

PAPosseRacing.com l PA Sprint Car Promotions

Hanover, PA l December 18, 2016

The excitement from 2016’s karting events will continue on in 2017. Three events are already scheduled at Speedway 94 in Hanover, Pennsylvania for next year, all of which will also serve as fundraisers.

This year, PA Sprint Car Promotions and PAPosseRacing.com have partnered with the iconic Beerhill Gang to raise money for the Fighting Angels Foundation, Kick-It, and the York County Racing Club. “It’s certainly an honor to put on three events for these charities. Kick-It In Karts was such a huge success last year, and the fans wanted more. So, we listened to them,” Mike Baker, one of the event coordinators, explains.

On May 18, the first event of 2017 will kick off with the Keystone Throwdown. This event will benefit the Fighting Angels Foundation, a fantastic foundation that raises awareness for childhood Angelman Syndrome (AS). The top sprint car drivers in the region, including some World of Outlaw Craftsman Sprint Car drivers, will be in competition. In the event of Lincoln Speedway postponing the Gettysburg Clash to Thursday night, the Keystone Throwdown will move to Saturday, May 20th.

Kick-It In Karts will return for the second annual running on Thursday, July 20th.. Last year, over 600 spectators and 80 drivers attended the event. A Speedway 94 regular, Jared Goulden, picked up the inaugural checkered flag. This event was ran with drivers from multiple classes and states, including Maryland’s Jeff Shepard. There was also three drivers from Australia in attendance, including the ever-popular James McFadden. Fans and drivers came together and helped raise over $2,000 for the Kick-It foundation. The event will have a Saturday, July 22nd rain date.

Things will get spooky near the end of the season with a special "Friday, the 13th" edition of Dirt Champions in October. The event will recognize any champions that have been extended an invitation. Again for 2017, this event will benefit the York County Racing Club’s Injured Drivers Fund. This year will include a special "Champions Showdown" between all of the invited drivers. Both winners of the Keystone Throwdown and Kick-It In Karts will be extended invitations to race in this event. If inclement weather is in the area for the event, it will be moved to Sunday, October 15th.

A DJ will be on hand at all events, as well as lap-by-lap commentary by Beerhill Gang TV’s, Earl Hoon Jr. Anyone interested in volunteering for any of 2017’s karting events, please contact Mike Baker by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. 10th ANNUAL DIRT TRACK HEROES CAR SHOW; Phillipsburg Mall To Again Host Popular Event in 2017. . . . .

The dates for the popular tenth edition of the week long Quaker Steak & Lube Dirt Track Heroes Show have been confirmed for 2017 and the hard-working staff and the many historical groups and speedways are putting all of the necessary pieces in place to produce another great show. The successful event will once again begin its week long run at the Phillipsburg Mall located off Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, New Jersey beginning on Sunday, March 5th and will run through March 11th.

The upcoming show encompasses the majority of the local short track scene and has become a must go to event for the local Tri-State area. Quaker Steak and Lube has taken on the lead sponsor role fir the third consecutive season.

For the tenth consecutive year, IRCO Community Federal Credit Union will once again lend their solid support to the popular show. IRCO was formed in 1966 and has grown in leaps and bounds to it’s present state today. IRCO serves over 8,000 members with assets exceeding $63,000,000.

IRCO remains a locally-owned and staffed community financial institution. Greg Collins, vice president at the Phillipsburg, New Jersey based IRCO Community Federal Credit Union as well as the noted historian of the Harmony Speedway remarked, "We are overjoyed to once again play an integral part in the Dirt Track Heroes Show. For me, since day one of the very first show, it is living the dream as the cars and the stars who come out for the show are and remain my heroes and we are proud to be associated with this great show." Collins further noted, "It is hard to believe this is the tenth year for the show as the years have gone past so quickly. We are looking forward to another great show."

The schedule of events for the tenth edition of the Dirt Track Heroes Show will be released shortly and this great local event will remain focused on the past, present and future of the sport with special recognition to the many legendary stars all of the racing fans cheered on from the grandstands to the new wave of stars and the future stars who are now cutting their teeth in the entry levels of racing in quarter midget, go kart or junior slingshot ranks and determined to be the next driving stars in the sport..

The Phillipsburg Mall has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and will once again offer many varieties of new and vintage race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the Mall for the duration of the show’s run. The nine previous shows have brought out race cars from all divisions of motorsports filling the Mall space as the past, present and future of racing have been highlighted in a week long show celebrating the love each of us has found in attending races and meeting so many wonderful people associated with the sport.

With an exciting and diverse schedule of events to whet the appetite of any true race fan, large crowds are expected to flock to the show to fill the wide walkways of the Phillipsburg Mall for the upcoming tenth edition of the show. This event is truly a Mall favorite and one of the leading attractions, continuously drawing outstanding crowds and successful events promoter Bob Miller and his wife Donna spearhead the hard working staff of individuals responsible for the continued success of the show.

The restored race cars represent racing’s past or what many race fans refer to as the "Golden Era" of auto racing. The great spirit of the event takes the great fan base of racing back to a special time in their lives when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement and spectacle of a night at the races. Some of the cars in attendance will be original works, some of the race cars are replicars of famous cars re-created to look much like the racers the legendary drivers drove to glory at one of the many speedways that hosted racing events. The great cars and the preserved memories gain far more impact when the fans have the opportunity to chat with many of the legendary drivers who will be making special appearances at the Mall during the week long event.

All historical racing groups including Tri State, Flemington, Nazareth, Dorney Park, Harmony and Reading will have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits.

Current day race cars are displayed by race teams to gain fan exposure and interest for themselves and their sponsors and create the "buzz" for the mall walkers to visit a race track in their immediate area. The cars are displayed to also exhibit the new and changing technology associated with racing and with the many restored race cars on site, depicts the evolution of the many eras of racing ingenuity. The fans can visit the Dirt Track Heroes Car Show and on any given night, meet the guys and gal drivers who pilot these four-wheel high-powered race cars.

Many race tracks participate in this event as a way to distribute their yearly racing schedules for the upcoming season and to meet and greet their loyal fans and hopefully win over some new fans to attend racing events at their respective facilities. The show remains free to the public as it has been since first landing at the Phillipsburg Mall ten years ago.

In previous events, cars on display included big block and small block Modifieds, Sportsman, all divisions of Micro-Sprints, ARDC Midgets, all divisions of Sprint Cars, Slingshots, Stage One Modifieds, X-Cel Modifieds, Late Models, SpeedSTRS, Go-Karts and a broad variety of vintage and restored race cars. Bridgeport, Hamlin, Accord, New Egypt, Action Track USA and Snydersville will again be among the many speedways involved with the 2017 edition of the show. The week-long event will set aside one evening to salute the "Stars of Tomorrow" with a special night for the budding young racing talents competing with the many quarter midget clubs in the area and this night has proven to be one of the highlights of the week as many of the youngsters will be giving their first ever interviews to a large crowd.

For the tenth consecutive year, former Gasoline Alley show hosts Ed and Steve Pados will host the nightly events and interviews along with longtime racing personality Bobby Stull and former Lake Mocatek Speedway co-announcer Justin Beltrame. Snydersville Speedway Announcer Alex Greezweig has also signed on for the event.
