SLATED FOR SATURDAY, AUGUST 20, AT SELINSGROVE SPEEDWAY
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Following the rained out events at Selinsgrove and Utica Rome Speedways that were a part of the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Crown Weekend for 360 sprint cars July 30-31, Selinsgrove Speedway and Mach 1 Chassis officials announced a revamped Open paying $4,000 to win will be run on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Snyder County half-mile oval.
“The 360 sprint car teams have shown a lot of support and put on great racing all season long,” said speedway general manager Steve Inch. “Working with Brian Scandle and Mark Smith at Mach 1 Chassis, we put together a revamped ‘Double Your Money’ Open for our headline open wheel division on August 20 since a suitable date wasn’t available to reschedule the original race with ESS and URC.”
The 30-lap 360 sprint car feature on Aug. 20 will pay $4,000 to win and $400 to start out of a $20,500 purse, which is double what a regular weekly purse is for the division. The rain date, if needed, will be Saturday, Aug. 27, the final points race of the season.
The super late models, pro stocks, and roadrunners will also be on the racing card. Track gates will open at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.

Arctic Cat All Stars Journey In To Central PA
The Speedway Motors/Champion Racing Oil Central PA Sprint Cars had three shows scheduled for the weekend with one falling to rain. Friday night August 12th Brian Montieth ran his 2016 point series win total up to four by taking the victory at Williams Grove Speedway. Saturday August 13th Lincoln Speedway waited through a rain delay to have JJ Grasso get his first series win of the 2016 season. The show scheduled for Selinsgrove Speedway Saturday night was rained out.
The Speedway Motors/Champion Racing Oil Central PA Sprint Cars have four nights of racing action scheduled for the coming weekend. Three of the four nights are with the Arctic Cat All Stars. Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville PA starts the tour off with the All Stars in a Thunder On The Hill show Thursday August 18th. The Speedway Motors/Champion Racing Oil Central PA Sprint Cars and Arctic Cat All Stars move to Williams Grove Speedway Friday August 19th. Both series then head to Lincoln Speedway on Saturday August 20th. Also on Saturday August 20th there is a Speedway Motors/Champion Racing Oil Central PA Sprint Cars race at Port Royal Speedway. Susquehanna Speedway finishes off the weekend with a race on Sunday August 21st.
Greg Hodnett leads the points with Danny Dietrich in 2nd and Lucas Wolfe in 3rd.
Five of the top 10 in driver points attended the Knoxville Nationals in Iowa last weekend with Greg Hodnett and Lucas Wolfe both making it in to the main event Saturday night. Hodnett finished 8th with Wolfe coming in 19th. Brent Marks, Stevie Smith and Danny Dietrich all competed in the B-Main.

with the IRA at Angell Park Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 21
SUN PRAIRIE, Wisc. — August 15, 2016 — History will be made at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin on Sunday, August 21 as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series visits the historic third-mile for the first time ever.
The Sun Prairie Sprint Car Classic will feature the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, plus the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association (IRA). The Mid-State Equipment/Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie Badger Midget Racing Series will also be in action.
Brad Sweet is the only current full-time World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series driver that has raced at Angell Park Speedway. The 30-year-old made seven starts at the track between 2007 and 2009, with the majority of those coming with the United States Auto Club (USAC). Sweet has a pair of runner-up finished at Angell Park Speedway in his career.
Donny Schatz is the current World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series point leader, as he chases his eighth championship. The North Dakota native has 16 victories this season to go along with 56 top-10 finishes, of which 43 are top-five performances. Each of those statistics leads the series. Schatz has seven wins in his career in the state of Wisconsin, including earlier this season at Cedar Lake Speedway.
David Gravel enters the event second in points on the strength of a career-high seven wins thus far in 2016. The native of Watertown, Connecticut won the most recent World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event in the state of Wisconsin at Wilmot Raceway on July 30.
Daryn Pittman, the 2013 Outlaws champion, and Sweet, teammates at Kasey Kahne Racing have each also won seven times thus far in 2016. Sweet is third in points, just three markers behind Gravel, while Pittman is one-point behind his teammate.
Joey Saldana, who is a past winner in Wisconsin at Beaver Dam Raceway, Cedar Lake Speedway and Wilmot Raceway, rounds out the current top-five in points.
Also in action at the Sun Prairie Sprint Car Classic will be Shane Stewart, who has five wins this season and is just outside of the top-five in points. Jason Johnson, who just scored the biggest win of his career last weekend in the Knoxville Nationals, now has a pair of wins this season. Logan Schuchart in eighth in points and won in Wisconsin earlier this year at Cedar Lake Speedway. Jason Sides in ninth in the standings, with one win thus far in 2016. Paul McMahan, who is chasing his first win of the season, is 10th in the current standings.
Jacob Allen, who is Schuchart’s teammate at Shark Racing, has seven top-10 finishes this season, including a pair of third-place finishes, which marked his career-best showings.
Greg Wilson and Clyde Knipp are battling for the Kevin Gobrecht Award for Rookie of the Year with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series in 2016. Wilson has one victory this season, while Knipp continues to gain experience at tracks he is visiting for the first time.
Jeremy Schultz is the current IRA point leader, with Scotty Thiel, who has won twice at Angell Park Speedway this season in second. Scotty Neitzel, who won a 360-sprint car race at Angell Park on August 14th, sits third. Matt Vandevere holds down the fourth spot in the standings and Kyle Marten rounds out the top-five.

York Springs, Pa. – After hosting the three-day Williams Grove Old Timers Convention, this Sunday the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing will present the monthly racing roundtable.
The roundtable, a popular presentation on various automotive racing history, allows fans of the sport the opportunity to learn about the colorful history of automobile racing.
This month the roundtable discussion will involve Lincoln Speedway. The historic Abbottstown oval opened in 1953 under the guidance of Hilly Rife. Rife, one of the most colorful promoters in local racing history, used imaginative promotions to make Lincoln a success. After a series of promoters, the current ownership team of Don and Bob Leiby, along with Alan Kreitzer, continue to make Lincoln a strong Saturday night operation.
Rocky Follin will lead the roundtable discussion on Lincoln Speedway.
Friday, August 19, the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing will have a display at the Bedford (PA) Speedway. Bedford Speedway management will provide track time for vintage racing equipment.
The museum, open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., is home to a large collection of vintage racing equipment. The second floor of the facility has a vast research center. A recent addition to the research rooms came from the Richwine family. Roy Richwine built and promoted Williams Grove Speedway. Later, following Roy Richwine’s passing, his son Robert Richwine took over the leadership of Williams Grove. The Richwine family donated a large number of photographs and scrapbooks created by Roy Richwine.
The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing is a non-profit organization founded in 1975, dedicated to the preservation of America’s great motor racing history. EMMR not only honors significant people and vehicles of racing’s past; but also, the historic speedways, fairgrounds, drag racing organizations, and the Gettysburg Region Antique Auto Club of America.

MITCH POWERS TO FIRST PRO STOCK VICTORY OF SEASON; LATE MODEL MAKEUP FEATURE ADDED TO MAY 7 “PACK THE TRACK”
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – On the night of the 36th annual Jack Gunn Memorial there were two races going on at Selinsgrove Speedway. One race was on the track and the other was against mother nature and an impending storm Saturday evening.
Although the racing was fast paced all night and moved along quickly, mother nature still got the best of the 30-lap Gunn Memorial. The race was past halfway and considered complete on lap 18 with Mark Smith of Sunbury declared the winner for the second year in a row in the $2,200-to-win event. Brad Mitch of McClure also grabbed a Pro Stock win in the division’s 15-lap main before the rains came.
Robbie Stillwagon of Burlington, N.J., started the night off with the Fast Tees Fast Time Award (17.499) over the 28-car field for the Newville Family of Companies 360 Sprint Cars which were joined by the United Racing Club.
Rains hit before the Jeff’s Auto Body & Recycling Center Super Late Model feature was held. The makeup feature will be run during the May 7 “Pack the Track” night. Chad Hollenbeck, Tony Adams, and Coleby Frye won the heat races for the stout 27-car Late Model field.
The Roadrunner feature was also postponed to a later date to be announced.
This coming Saturday, May 7, will be the annual PEPSI “Pack the Track” night featuring $5 General Admission for all adults and students. Kids 11 years of age and younger will be admitted FREE. The May 7 racing card will include a full program of 360 Sprint Cars, Pro Stocks, Roadrunners and two late model features. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
Once heat races and a B-main were completed the Sprint Car feature line up was set with Mark Smith bringing the field to the green flag as the defending winner of the race. A strong start for fourth-place starter Josh Weller shot him into the race lead. A lap six caution flag gave Smith a chance to regroup and take a shot to regain the top spot. By the time the field returned to the flag stand for lap seven Smith was again showing the way while being chased by Weller.
On lap 12 Smith began to work into lapped traffic and that allowed Weller to begin to close up the gap along with TJ Stutts. Stutts was all over Weller when the yellow flag flew again on lap 17 for Curt Michael slowing with a flat tire. The yellow was good for Smith again giving him the open track.
Stutts was on Weller when the green flew again allowing Smith to get away a little bit before the yellow was displayed for the final time. Jim Shuster was slowing on the backstretch as the rain began to fall on the speedway. Drivers gave officials the sign that the racing surface was not what it needed to be for them to compete any further and they were sent to the pits and the race was called official soon after.
The win is Smith’s 16th career victory at the speedway in 358-360 Sprint Car racing and his seventh in a URC sanctioned event at the track dating back to 2012. Weller came home in second followed by Stutts, Ryan Kissinger from the 13th starting spot, and Robbie Stillwagon. Jason Shultz, Cody Keller, Nate Snyder, Ed Aiken, and John Braim were the top ten in the rain-shortened event.
Joe Trenca, Josh Weller, Tj Stutts won the heat races with Colby Womer winning the B main.
Brad Mitch was on a mission to grab his 20th career Selinsgrove Speedway victory and he did just that in the A&A Auto Stores Pro Stock feature event. Mitch led early over opening night winner Andrew Shoop before Shoop went pitside with an issue. Kurt Wray became the runner up and put a ton of pressure on Mitch before he too had an issue that sidelined his car.
Brandon Moser kept Mitch honest the rest of the race by staying on his rear bumper, but was not able to complete the pass and had to settle for second. Matt Wilson, Curtis Lawton, and Jeff Ceballo rounded out the top five. Mitch and Shoop won heat races for the Pro Stocks.
